Our mission to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2030 is at the heart of everything we do.

From sourcing our ingredients right down to our supply chain and day-to-day operations, we’re taking big steps to leave a smaller environmental footprint. Here’s how we’re making it happen.

Ingredients & packaging

We’re cutting back on using beef and lamb in our meals and prioritising lower-carbon sources of protein such as venison, pork, chicken and plant-based alternatives 
 

We only use packaging materials that are fully recyclable. Our CPET trays are made from 70% PCR (Post-Consumer Recycled Material) and can be recycled in a closed loop system in partnership with our customers.

Supply chain

We partner with Foodsteps to assess the carbon footprint of our meal products, including full lifecycle assessments for our Steamplicity and Esteem ranges. This provides accurate CO2 figures, enabling our teams to advise on reduction routes.

Our plastic trays can be collected and ground back into granules to create new packaging. We can further reduce carbon emissions by eliminating single-use plastics from our customers’ supply chains through closed-loop recycling.

Operations

We purchase 100% renewable energy and have introduced ISO 50001 and 46001-aligned energy and water management system standards as we drive towards achieving the Soil Association Green Kitchen Standard. 
 
We manage our food waste using comprehensive, data-driven reports that identify areas for improvement, enabling us to implement targeted actions that effectively reduce our environmental impact and promote sustainability.

Together with Compass Group UK&I, we are fully committed to responsible and sustainable catering. Whilst there’s still a long road ahead, we’re leading the market in setting an industry standard for others to follow.
