As Love British Food Fortnight 2025 draws to a close, we're reflecting on what it means to champion British food and farming. As a proud member of Love British Food, Cuisine Centre stands alongside a community of organisations dedicated to celebrating the incredible produce grown and crafted right here in the UK.

That's why we're shining a spotlight on one of our valued partners Macphie: an internationally renowned, family-owned food ingredient manufacturer. For years, Macphie has helped us bring creativity and versatility to our prepared meals, proving that quality ingredients really can change everything.
About Macphie
Can you tell us a little bit about Macphie and your story? How has Macphie evolved over the years, what role does innovation play?
Simply, clever food changes everything. From day one, Macphie was driven by a pioneering spirit, a hunger to break boundaries and a conviction that clever food isn’t complicated; it’s simply better. We are a truly unique international family ingredient business. A beacon of invention built firmly on a bedrock of timeless values. Powered by relentless curiosity and deep-rooted pride in where we’ve come from. Ours is no traditional business. And never will be. A trusted partner to the world’s leading food brands. Dedicated to turning ideas and creativity into real-world brilliance. No matter your challenge, we rise to it.
Yet it’s the ‘we’ that defines us most profoundly. Colleagues, friends, neighbours and families, past and present, have shaped our journey. Without them, Macphie would not exist. And because genuine care extends beyond people, we are fully committed to protecting the very ground we stand on. Sustainability isn’t simply a strategy or a tagline for us; it’s a promise we keep every day. As proud custodians of the land, responsible ownership is our legacy, and one we continuously honour as we boldly shape our future.
At our heart, we’re food people. We craft it, create it, supply it, live it. And yes, we passionately eat it too.

Partnership & Collaboration
How long have you worked with Cuisine Centre and what does our partnership involve?
We have a long-standing relationship with Cuisine Centre. Our partnership involves us providing essential cooking ingredients and menu inspiration to support the creation of delicious meals across the cost sector.
Have there been any highlights so far? Any particular products or projects you’ve enjoyed collaborating on?
Our chef team loves inspiring Cuisine Centre’s customers with creative ways to use Macphie products in new dishes. After all, the true mark of delicious food is an empty plate. And behind the scenes, we know customers also appreciate not being weighed down by waste. When placing your orders, choose products that will work harder for you. Versatile products can allow you to create a portfolio of dishes without needing a store cupboard of ingredients.

Products & Expertise
Can you share a bit about the types of products you’re most proud of?
The versatility of our products is the overarching thing we are most proud of. Not only do they allow chefs (no matter their skill level) to create amazing dishes, they can be easily customised with inclusions, allowing chefs to introduce new items onto menus using the one product back of house as the base.
Do you have a favourite Macphie product or recipe that you’d recommend during British Food Fortnight?
Our Bechamel with Butter Sauce (which is suitable for vegetarians, gluten free and Halal certified) can be adapted across many menu items such as Breakfast Sharing Scrolls. It obviously makes a superb lasagne, but it can also be used for deliciously iconic British dishes, such as Fish Pie. Not only that, it even allows chefs to tap into trends such as hybridisation with a Sunday Roast Pizza.

Sustainability & Values
Supporting British food is at the heart of this campaign. How do you work with local producers and suppliers?
Our ways of working have always been based on the principles of sustainability. We want to make a positive impact on both our local and wider environment, embedding practices that protect the people and places around us.
Proving we’re not just talking the talk when it comes to sustainability, we are B Corp accredited. This means we’ve proactively joined a community of like-minded organisations using business as a force for good. We’ve aligned our ambitions to hit social and environmental goals, as well as financial targets.
What role does community and people play in your company culture?
We like to look after people at the start of their careers, develop them as they grow and continue to reward their efforts long after they’ve hung up their hairnets or packed up their desks. So many people have played significant roles in our story - we would not exist without them, and we continue to show our appreciation long after our colleagues retire. Through annual profit-based payments, quarterly newsletters and regular visits, we keep the connection alive. In turn, their stories of the Macphie years before us keep us rooted in the reasons we do what we do.
We’ve partnered with DYW and two local secondary schools to inspire foodie careers and provide practical support to prepare young people for the world of work. We also take time to develop our own people, making sure they continue to learn and push themselves, regardless of their position in the business. Nearly 12% of our business is owned by an Employee Trust, dedicated to supporting the evolving needs of our diverse workforce and ensuring Macphie remains a great place to work.
Part of our success lies in strengthening the communities from which we employ. Every year, we donate a percentage of our profits to local projects as well as collectively fundraise for selected charities. We’ve also partnered with UK food poverty charity FareShare which strives to redirect surplus food to those who need it. With a 400% increase in demand for the food banks they operate, we’re working with FareShare to make sure nobody goes hungry.

Looking Ahead
What trends do you see shaping the future of British food? How do you think consumer tastes are changing, and how is Macphie adapting?
After the turbulent times we’ve experienced of late, consumers are more eager to support the British economy as well as local farmers and producers. Provenance of ingredients is becoming more important not only for consumers but also for chefs. Many reports show us that diners are opting for British produce when choosing from menus and are willing to pay more for British ingredients - so it’s worth looking at how you can shop local when it comes to sourcing key ingredients like meat, seafood and vegetables.
What are you most excited about in the year ahead?
We’re excited to keep translating trends for our customers, taking the heavy lifting away from them by showing how our versatile products can help them easily adapt menus for different day parts, changing seasons and emerging trends. We may also have a few product launches coming that are making us all very excited but we are sworn to secrecy, so you will just need to keep an eye out on the new product section of our website.
A big thank you to the Macphie team for sharing their story with us and for being such a valued partner in our mission to nourish the nation. Want to find out more about the other brilliant partners and associations we work alongside? Meet them here!
